DAN’S WEE COTTAGE
Welcome to Dan’s Wee Cottage and we hope that you enjoy your stay with us as much as we have truly enjoyed creating our dream in restoring Dan’s to what you are about to stay in and become part of our story.
Dan was the last of the Hughes family who resided here from 1948 until 2004 and we have tried to be sympathetic to his home whilst creating a modern yet traditional feel to the cottage. The family moved here from the top of Cratlieve Mountain that you can see from our large window looking up to the right and lived here as a family with Dan remaining a bachelor all his life only married to the land that is situated to the rear of the cottage, which your host Francis still farms today.
Your hosts are Lorraine and Francis Rice. Francis has grown up and been here all his life and Lorraine and he have been lucky enough to live here from September 2003 along with their three daughters Orláigh, Shannon and Líle-Róis in the shadows of the scenic and hypnotic setting of Slieve Croob which can be seen from the kitchen window in all its splendour.

“My family and I spent Christmas 2023 in Dan's Wee Cottage and we truly fell in love with it. What a find! Everything was idyllic - the location, the views, the decor, the layout etc etc.
We were delighted that the cottage was so beautifully decorated for Christmas and this definitely made our stay more special. Francis and Lorraine were the perfect hosts and catered for our every whim.
We would recommend this cottage to anyone and we definitely intend to return when we get the chance.

"Just back from a fantastic girlie night at Dan's Wee Cottage. The cottage was beautifully presented, with a very sociable layout allowing you to enjoy the views over the hills whilst chatting and was spotlessly clean with everything needed for our night away. We couldn't have asked for a better host in Lorraine who went over and above to make our night perfect (even relighting the fire whilst we enjoyed our bubbles in the hot tub).
She thought of everything from our afternoon tea, prosecco, treatments, Chinese and hot tub and we couldn't have asked for more. We look forward to returning and thanks for a great night".

"We stayed here yesterday for my sister's 50th birthday and I can honestly say it was the nicest place I have stayed. Beautifully kept and spotless and thee best hosts you could ask for. Sitting in the hot tub with the beautiful surroundings, we could not have asked for anything more - we have already booked to go back, thanks guys x.
